Edwin Jacobs
Edwin Jacobs is a partner at the law firm time.lex in Brussels, specialised in information and technology law in the broadest sense, including privacy protection, data and information management, e-business, intellectual property and telecommunications. Its activities cover all legal issues encountered in the creation, management and exploitation of information and technology, in all of its diverse forms.

Before that he was the general counsel at Isabel a leading service provider in e-banking, e-business en e-government. Within the Institute for Company Lawyers, he founded and chaired the practice group ICT-IP-law.
He is also an affiliated researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre for Law and ICT and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Internet Banking and Commerce.

Edwin is an accredited mediator in civil and commercial matters and a practice assistant for the course “negotiation and mediation” at the law faculty of the University of Antwerp.

He read law at the universities of Namur (Belgium, in French, 1991), Norwich (UK, 1993) and Leuven (Belgium, in Dutch, 1994), and studied European law at the Europa-Institut in Saarbrücken (Germany, 1995). In 2003, he obtained a postgraduate degree in company management (Bedrijfskunde, EHSAL Management School, Brussels).
